Why the World Race?
Hi everybody, thank you for your encouragement and prayers, they mean more to me than you know! I’m excited for you to come along this journey with me and I want to let you into my heart to know what has laid the groundwork for this journey.
First I’ll start by explaining what the World Race is.
The World Race is an eleven month missions trip where my team and I will be serving in three different continents, Asia, Africa, and South America. We will be going to a different country every month. Upon arriving to each new continent we will spend time learning the cultural and societal norms of the area to better understand and serve those we are getting to know.
What will we be doing?
Every community we go to will have a different need. Whatever is needed is what we will do. This will include community development, children’s ministries, feeding programs, church planting, discipleship, anti-trafficking ministries, and refugee ministries.
So now I guess you’d be wondering why I want to go? Why live out of a backpack, sleep in a tent, and miss my family, friends, weddings, birthdays, holidays and so much more for 11 months?
Throughout my life whenever I’d been asked why I was doing something/what my motivation was I have never quite been able to wrap my head around the true reason, my true reason. My “why” for my choices have always been something along the lines of because I was good at it or it was expected of me or simply just a “why not?” But now for the first time in my life I actually know and am fully confident and unwavering my why. God has placed a desire in my heart that has been developing over the past few years. It started as a dream; a dream that I automatically deemed as impossible or too unattainable. A dream to travel the world spreading the Gospel and love of Jesus while deeply coming to know and love his people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. This dream has turned into the deepest desire of my heart. To be surrounded by a Christ loving community, to experience cultures and people who are nothing like me, to grow in my relationship with God daily, and to spread the good news that is Jesus to everyone who may accept it.
It is not through coincidence that I am here in this moment writing this blog, I do not believe in coincidences. Many, many things out of my control had to fall into place to even know of and be considered for this opportunity. Simply put, my why is, I am being called, so I will follow.
Amen sister! They picked the right person to share God’s love through serving and through who she is as an individual!
I have always been proud of you, but never more than I am now. Your love of God shines, and you will no doubt make a difference in the lives of so many. Be safe, stay healthy, and know always how much I love you.
